HALTOM CITY - David McGee, 82, a former ITEEA President and beloved schoolteacher for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023. The service will be livestreamed and the link will be available a few minutes before the service at www.greenwoodfuneralhomes.com/obituary
Service: 12 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Mount Olivet Chapel in the Breyley Suite.
David was born on January 24, 1941, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to William Haskew and Katherine Rackley McGee.
He married his high school sweetheart, Diane, and they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage with countless two-step, waltz, swing and line dances together. They were blessed with a daughter, Debbie Rochelle, and two grandchildren, Dalton Samuel and Daxton Wayne Loy. They were the lights of his life.
David's passion for teaching was evident to all who knew him. He had a gift for inspiring his students to unlock their full potential and chase their dreams. He was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his students. He touched countless lives over the years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Outside of the classroom, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and he was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a deep faith in God and was an active member of his church community.
David will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and William Haskew McGee; and siblings, Marlene Wilkins, Donna Cross, Bill McGee, Shirley Smith, Darwin McGee, Mike McGee and Larry McGee.
