Professional Bio
Mark Harrell is the STEM CTL Director with ITEEA, dedicated to preparing Pk-12 students for the future STEM workforce. A Purdue University graduate in Technology Education, Mark began his career at Bryan Station High School in Lexington, KY, inspiring students with a love for STEM.
He then moved to Franklin County Career-Tech Center, where he built one of Kentucky’s top Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering Pathways and served as the District STEM Coordinator. Later, as Director of School Engagement at PLTW, he worked with schools in Kentucky and Tennessee to implement and sustain their programs. Wanting to make a better impact Mark accepted a position as the Engineering Technology Education Program Consultant and Kentucky TSA State Advisor within the Office of Career and Technical Education at the Kentucky Department of Education. This contract position started in partnership with Eastern Kentucky University and transitioned to the University of Louisville.
Mark holds a master’s degree in Career and Technical Education Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He lives in Frankfort, KY, with his wife Erin and their two children, Treyton and Elliotte.
