Professional Bio
Chandra Porter, a seasoned educator with 24 years of teaching experience in the Dekalb County School District, holds the position of Engineering & Technology Education instructor at Champion Theme Middle School. Alongside her teaching role, she serves as the advisor for the Technology Student Association (TSA), a role she has held since 2003, and has contributed to the TSA Board of Directors.
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Chandra is a proud alumna of the University of Georgia. She holds degrees in Bachelor of Science in Business Education, Master of Education in Technological Studies, and Educational Specialist in Occupational Studies.
Her commitment to professional development is evident through her recent completion of the leadership certification program at the University of West Georgia.
Recognized as an emerging leader in the Engineering & Technology education field, Chandra has served in various capacities on the Executive Board, including roles such as Sustaining Member Liaison, President-Elect, President, and Past President. Currently, she holds the position of Treasurer for the Georgia Engineering & Technology Education Division (GAeTED).
Chandra's dedication to education is underscored by her numerous awards. She received recognition as the 2014-2015 Freedom Middle School Teacher of the Year and has been honored multiple times by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA). Notably, she received the ITEEA Program of Excellence award in 2010 and 2017, and the ITEEA Teacher of Excellence in 2014. In 2022, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Engineering & Technology Education Division of GACTE, and in 2023, she received the Emerging Leader Award at the ITEEA Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
